We’ve all heard the expression in healing circles: “You have to feel it to heal it.”


 On a logical level, it makes sense — we need to allow ourselves to feel in order to heal. But in practice, this can be overwhelming. When we create space for our emotions, we can be met with intense sensations, unexpected stories, and difficult truths.


It’s not always easy to stay present with our wounds. The urge to escape, distract, or numb ourselves is real — and if that’s where you are right now, that’s okay. There is no shame here. When it comes to growth and healing, there is no wrong way to be you, at any age or stage.


The truth is, we are always feeling — in, around, and in response to our environment. You are already doing the work. Now, we begin to make that work more supportive, more intentional,…
